The first meeting of the Steering Committee

On 5th September 2014 in the educational room of the Office of the Landscape Parks Complex in the Silesian Voivodeship in Będzin, the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project Life+ ’Beskidy’ was held. The members of the Steering Committee were summoned to supervise the implementation of the Project. The Steering Committee consists of scientists working in the domain of botany, zoology, inanimate nature, landscape protection, and the representatives of local governments and the National Forests. The meeting of the Steering Committee was convened in order to assess the research conducted within the framework of monitoring nature in the Project areas.

Having introduced the members of the Steering Committee and the staff members of the Section Life+ attending the meeting, Ms Sylwia Hutyra, the Section Manager, presented all the actions that had been implemented so far within the Project framework.

The representative of the monitoring company presented the results of the research conducted so far and the preliminary conclusions drawn from the implemented actions.

The discussion encompassed not merely the topical issues such as the assessment of the conducted research but also the specific Project objectives such as sheep pasturing, removing the volunteer trees or shrubs or building observation platforms.

The subsequent meeting of the Steering Committee is scheduled to take place at the end of October 2014; the target of that meeting is to present the progress in the implementation of the Project as well as to discuss the on-going affairs connected to the implementation of the Project.

The organizers of the meeting would like to express their gratitude towards the members of the Steering Committee for the attendance and participation in the meeting and their invaluable remarks and comments, which will serve the purpose of effective protection of nature within the Beskid Mountains Landscape Parks.
